Auri vs ChatGPT

Ask questions, follow up, and get help with tasks from the keyboard you are already using.

The difference in everyday use

Both Auri and ChatGPT are assistants you can have a conversation with. Auri puts that assistance inside your iPhone and iPad keyboard: ask a question, search the web, check a calendar, or draft a reply in the app you are using. Auri also has its own app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

Consider Auri when you want an assistant at the point where you are writing, alongside polished dictation and saved context. ChatGPT may suit the conversations and desktop integrations you already rely on. You can also use Auri’s keyboard to dictate prompts into ChatGPT.

Keep speaking. Stay in your app.

The first dictation opens Auri to start a session. After that initial handoff, you can start and stop more dictations from the keyboard without leaving the app you are writing in while the session stays active.

Clean mode follows spoken self-corrections, removes filler words, and formats lists. Custom vocabulary helps Auri recognize the names and specialist terms you use.

Prefer on-device dictation? Choose the On-Device English engine to transcribe dictation on your iPhone or iPad. AI cleanup, writing tools, and Ask Auri are separate network features.

These workflow features are separate from the benchmark’s transcript score.

You say

“For tomorrow, bring a few things. One, the prototype. Two, um, the charger. Three, two adapters. Actually, make that three adapters.”

Auri writes

For tomorrow, bring:

  1. The prototype
  2. The charger
  3. Three adapters

Ask Auri

An assistant in your keyboard.

Some messages need an answer before they need words. Open Ask Auri in the keyboard to ask a question, search the web, check your calendar, or find a place—all from the app you are writing in.

Keep the conversation going with a follow-up. Attach a saved note or transcript for context, then insert the answer when it is ready. Calendar and reminder changes show a preview for you to confirm.

A few useful answers

Can I use Auri and ChatGPT together?

Yes. Where ChatGPT accepts third-party keyboards on iPhone, you can use Auri to type or dictate your prompt, then continue the conversation in ChatGPT.

Is ChatGPT Voice the same as voice typing?

ChatGPT distinguishes Voice conversations from Dictation. Dictation returns a transcript you can edit before sending a prompt. Voice is a spoken exchange with ChatGPT. Auri’s keyboard dictation is for entering text in the app you are using.

Did the study measure Auri against ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT was not in the keyboard benchmark. This page compares workflows and documented capabilities, not model intelligence, response quality, or measured speed.
